How's Your Novel Going?

Give the name of your book.

Talk a little bit about what is going on in the novel.

Would you recommend it?

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

This old writer is dying. She is a recluse and refuses to tell reporters anything truthful about her life. (So far she has a running total of no less than 19 birth stories--all conflicting.) She employs the owner (another observer rather than participator in life) of a book store to stay with her in her house in the English countryside where she begins the tale of her life.

I would absolutely recommend it. It is riveting. I know I am not doing it justice with this little blurb here, but in all honesty, I hate going to sleep because I want to read it all night!

"my sisters keeper"- ummm its good. kinda boring right now, but im getting to a good part, i can tell. and everyone said it was good so im excited to read it. it's weird at the same time because the parents only have the second child to keep the first one alive. thats so cruel. and i cant imagine what it would feel like to be that girl. i would feel so unwanted and not loved.

Nineteen Minutes by:Jodi Picoult

A mother and her teenage daughter conflict. When the daughter goes to school, a high school shooting occurs. She is not shot but she goes into shock and her boyfriend is killed in front of her. After the shooting occurs in the novel it flashes back to when the kids were growing up and how their lives used to be. It turns out the daughter and the shooter were best friends growing up and his mom had delivered her when she was a baby. Now that her mother has become the new judge in town she has to decide whether the shooter should be put in jail or not.

This novel is very intense and i would definately recommend it to any one looking for a good book to read.

It is about these children that have to be locked up in a room and kept a secret. They thought they were only going to be there for a few days but as it turns out they have to stay there for a bit longer.

I'm reading Truesight by David Stahler Jr. Jacob is the main character and in his colony everyone is born blind and it's always been like that. In his community everyone is always happy. Jacob's birthday is coming up and this is were he becomes an "adult". So far i think it's a good book but I still have to read more to see why he's getting nervous about is birthday coming up.

Diary of a teenage girl [becoming me]

Caitlin Renee is a 16 year old girl who is having problems with boys, friends, and god. She writes in a diary everyday and explains the problems in her life.

EXAMPLE OF DIARY ENTRY:

"I used to think that being fifteen was bad...well, let me tell you, being sixteen isnt exactly a walk through the mall either. And so far, I think today's been about the worst day of my entire life..."

I do recommend this book! I relate to what she talks about so it makes it more interesting! Ive laughed and cried ;)

Well, I was reading The Kite Runner, but I disliked it and sort of stalled halfway, so I'm doing For One More Day by Mitch Albom. It's about a man who's wife and daughter have ceased to love him because he's such a giant sadsack of a mess. When said daughter decides not to invite him to her wedding (I certainly don't want him at mine), he tries to kill himself. On the edge of death he meets his deceased mother and spends one more day with her. I walked away with two thoughts: a) I need to treat my mother better and b) even my hands feel sappy after handling this. It's sweet at times, though, especially towards the end, so I suggest reading it--it's only 197 pages long. Don't miss the kinky black and yellow "adult bestseller" sticker on Miss Geist's copy.

by Kim Edwards

First off the book takes place in 1964 all they way to 1989. It all starts with a happy married couple Norah and David Henry. During the birth David discovers another baby the second after the first baby comes out. He makes a decision that will forever alter his relationship with his wife. Also it will change the life of a nurse at the hospital forever. From then on each character's life is full of secrets , lies, and deception. This decision that David had made is a true test to see how much love there is between Nora and David. I recommend this book for everyone.

My novel is "eyes of the emperor" and its about a japanese boy in Honolulu in 1941 who signs up for the US army because he wants to prove that he is "a real american" and not "like the enemy" but than the Japanese attack Pearl Habour and the anti-japanese feelings become greater and greater.
right now it is kind of boring, because the army is on the Hololulu (honolulo, oh whatever) beach and they are thinking the Japanes army would attack any moment, but we already learnd in history, that Pearl Habour is the only attack in that war so you know that nothing will happen.
other than that I think its a pretty cool book (but they speek japanese all the time and dont translate is :)

one for the money by:janet evanovich

this book is really different but interesting... everything happens pretty fast paced so im not bored with it. it started out when she was six and she lived next to an "irresistalbe" guy who does stuff with lots of girls . she loses her verginity to him when she is sixteen, and then he just moves on to the next girl. I guess she gets pretty mad cuz when she is nineteen she runs him over! now she is older and is starting a job for her cousin(she doesnt want to) she is going to be a looking for a criminal. the only reason she is doing it is because she is broke and if she gets him it she will get 10,000 dollars. i have a feeling she is going to know the criminal. i am not sure if i would recomend the book to any one yet i guess i have to read more.

"Tears of a tiger". Thats my book. I haven't started it though. But, as far as the first page, and the back of the book, says, it is about a guy that is in a car accident and looses his best friend. Then he get depressed because he blames himself for it, and he turns away from family and friends. He no longer has the ability to face the future.

"saying it out loud" by Joan Ablelove

I am half way through my novel, and I would have to say its a pretty good book. I stay hooked to it once I start back up on it everytime I go back to reading. The book is about a girl whose mother has a brain tumor and is dying. The main character, Misty, is having a really hard time with her mom being gone into the hospital and the fact that she is dying, at the same time she is getting ready for college, filling out applications and what not. The book is a tear jerker from what I hear, but I havent cried in it yet...I mean there are some sad parts but I'm half way through it so something big is yet to come. Also, Misty puts journal entries into the novel to from her own journal. I would recommend this book more to other girls, because its mainly about the mother and daughter relationship and how close they are to one another. It is a good book for mothers and daughters. Guys, probably not so much, but whatever floats their boat.

"Ptolemy's Gate" is an amazing novel. It was really hard to put down. I have finishd already so now I have to get started on the mid term project. I couldn't believe that Nathanial ended up dieing. I really thought that kitty and Nathanial were going to hook up, but I guess not. I hope that Jonathon Stroud comes up with a fourth novel.

"Indian Killer" by: Sherman Alexie
I think that this is a good book. The main character is an Native man named John Smith. which is so funny...a native american named john smith, get it? and he's trying to figure out who he is, because he was adopted by a non-native couple. There is also a "indian killer" which killed 2 men and kidnapped a little boy. But i sorta got upset about a certain part of the book. i didn't get mad @ sherman alexie for writing it, but i got more mad at Sherman alexie's made up character who said it. I got mad, but it is so true!! so true!! it made me think about alot! but there is alot that is said that is NOT true!!! and it get me so mad. like it says "we should have terminated Indian Tribes from the very beginning. Indians should have been assimilated into normal society long ago". Read Pages: 207-209 of Indian Killer.

My novel is Darcy's Story by Janet Aylmer. It's a very compelling book, but you have to read Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice before you read this novel. It's just like Pride and Prejudice but in Mr. Darcy's perspective. You get to see events as they transpire through Mr.Darcy's eyes. Mr. Wickham, jane and mr. bingley relationship, also elizabeth bennet .

The main character is living a double life.

I would not since its sci-fi genre and alot of people wouldn't care much for it.

"Saving Fish From Drowning" by Amy Tan is the book that im reading. weird title i know. the title is probably one of the main reasons i choose to read the book. like what the hell. you cant save a fish from drowning it lives in water! to me it was very intriguing. the book is about an art patron named Bibi chen (Bibi is her nickname given by her father) who set up a Burma trip for 11 of her friends. but after her mysterious death the travelers veer off her itinerary and find themselves "on a trail paved with cultural gaffes and tribal curses, Buddhist illusions and romantic desires." what ive read so far is really good. the way Amy Tan narrates the character of Bibi Chen is amazing. if i like the book im sure other people will. so i would recommend it to anyone who likes to read.

Title: "With or Without You"
Author: Carole Matthews

Have recommened the book already and recommend this book to girls who are intrested in relationships and adventure.
Brief summary: The main character, Lyssa,35, is trying to have a child with her boyfriend of 4 years, Jake, who she lives with. After many complications, Jake decides to leave his baby-obssesed girlfriend for a younger, independent woman from work. After having her heart broken and leaving her "perfect" job, Lyssa finds herself on a road to self-discovery. This very girly, high-heeled wearing woman never thought finding herself would be on a camping trip in Mt. Everest.
I found this book to be very enjoying. I'm not much of a reader but even I could not set this book down.

I'm reading Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut

The book is funny but it's weird. I get the vibe that Vonnegut is a weird writer but he's humorous in a subtle way. I picked the book because I heard that it's good to read and so far it's all right.

My good title is called "Disgaea" that’s Dis-gaia its a regional pronunciation I suppose.

The Novel is about This Demon prince named Laharl. He wakes up after a two-year slumber to find out his father had died. As a demon he doesn’t really seem to care. His loyal vassal Etna tells him that being dead for two years, it wont be easy to claim his fathers thrown. Demons are fighting for his father's position as Overlord of the netherworld! So he has a lot of challenges along the way, including an angel trainee named Flonne and her proclamations of love and peace!

Yeah I tried to make it sound a little interesting there. Basically, Flonne is sent from Celestia to the nether world by her leader Master Lamington kill Laharl's father but after finding out his fathers dead she tells him how a child should never loose his father and proclaims herself "His segregate father"

I guess I was disappointed in the end. Its self as a Manga is great. The art was very clean and original, but it left out key points from the original story, which I believed were some of thee most important parts of the whole story. I recommend the video game to those who are Interested... but this Manga is a stretch. but go ahead and read it, You may just enjoy this version.
