"Pets" --By My Friend Jill

My friend Andrea put me up to this and I teach second graders so um, have fun with this one.

I have a black pug named Geno. My husband and I spoil him and treat him like he's a human boy. He sleeps in our bed, we take him everywhere, we dress him up for Halloween and we celebrate his birthday. (We put him in a Scooby Doo party hat.)

Is this weird? Are your pets part of your family and what do you do to spoil your pets?

I have a whole houseful of pets, from Cosmo the irritable old prairie dog to Johnny the tarantula(Nny for short) to Suspiria, the little albino corn snake who refuses to bite anyone and has an angel mark on her head.

But there's no one like Oscar. To say that he is the truest friend I've ever had would be an understatement worthy of flogging.

I don't spoil my pets! What kind of person would spoil their pet. I mean its a waste of money they get sick you spend a couple hundred on a vet. When all I do is just tie him up to a tree and just shoot him! It saves money.

I dunno. My dog usually just chills and sit there. I guess he gets alot of sweet treats and stuff. He sleeps on the couch at night so i guess he is pretty much family.

I LOVE MY PETS!!! they are definitely treated as part of the family. i spoil them to death!! i have 2 dogs, one is an american bulldog named Yukon...he is HUGE but he is such a big baby and some people are afraid of him sometimes but there is no need to be cuz he is so loveable...anyways he always crawls right into bed with me whenever i take a nap or go to sleep, but he takes up the whole bed and sometimes pushes me off. and then i have a golden retriever named Crown, hes a big baby too... but him and Yukon fight like true brothers and get jealous of each other...its funny...i bring them Timbits from work all the time, even though im not supposed to my parents say...oh well i dont care...and i have a kitty named Sabrina and i love her shes like my princess haha shes so precious =] i've had her since she was born...then we have a guinae pig and two hamsters, but those are techincally my sisters...and she she never pays attention to them i feel so bad, so whenever i get the chance i play with them so they arent depressed. my dog yukon is the one that acts most like a human being though...he's silly...i love my pets haha im gunna be sad when i have to leave then when i go off to college, i'll probably cry...

I have had a few different pets in my life. My first experience with pets was when me and my sister were young we each had a cat-that we were supposed to bring in every night. Mine I named george (later changed to georgie when we found out it was a chick) and the other named tiger. Well, one night she forgot to bring her's in the house and it got hit by a car. A few weeks before that happened we got a dog for the family named Teddy. Both Teddy and georgi are still around and are going to be 14(Teddy) and 15(Georgie) this year. Around the year 2000, 2001 my sister got a cat from her friends for her birthday and named him Mander. However, during a fateful day in 2004 ...well lets just say we havent seen him since. lastly, My sister got a cat while she lived in jamestown attending JCC and called him Titus. he still resides with us to this day along with Teddy and Georgi. My sister also has a couple of fish.

My dog does what it is trained to do. Attack. bull mastiffs are for show and protection. My parents spent 1500 bucks on our dog. fifteen hundred man... the dog can tear anyone apart and she isn't even fully grown. I would like to see any man or other dog try to fight this monsterous beast. Im happy it doesn't bte the hand that feeds her.

you spoil a dog. It becomes lazy and usuless. It takes advantage and is a little scavanger that will do everything in it's power to get that little kernal of corn that fell off the table. It attacks that corn like it was dieing of hunger. when it weighs 50 pounds more. My stepfather's mother used to show he bullmastiff before she died. she knows everything there is about dogs and how to raise them.

i guess you could say that my cat is part of my family. my parents love him. always get mad at me and my sister whenever were mean to him and we end up getting punished for it. chubby(thats the cats name) is basically the lil brother. he can be loveable at times and i can just chill with him but other times he just gets on my damn nerves. i dont give him any special treatment or anything. c'mon hes a cat he dont need it.

Pets are totally apart of the family. My family and I have had a dog (Penny) since we moved to Gowanda (about 8 years). Since that first day from bringing her home as a hyper active playful puppy, our dog has turned lazy and irritating much like many members of my family. It's pretty ironic to watch my family and my dog because they will be watching tv and my dog will be laying on the floor next to us usually blowing toots that make our entire living room stink. So I def. find that pets personalities are defined by the owners and family.

i have three cats and they are my babies lol trixiebelle, gremlin, and meatball. When i'm home they stay near me because i'm the one person in my house that gives them the most attention, they sleep on my bed at night, when we eat dinner i always slip them some of my chicken or fish, but i don't throw birthday parties for them lol.

i don't really have pets, but my cousin does. His dog is cool, well until he started to try biting people. Then he's not so cool. be before we sorta thought of him as a person, because he would go places with us. It's funny because he would even try to go with us to longhouse. He even tried to come into the longhouse.. it was so funny. It was so cute! He stood just outside the door, and watched as everyone was dancing feather dance. It was hilarious. His dog even sometimes like to petard like is owner. i'm just kidding.

I have two dogs but I don't treat them as part of the family and yes it is weird that you dress up your dog.

I LOVE SWEET BABY! He is always happy to see me, he is absolutely adorable, he looks precious in his St. Patrick's Day polo and his Christmas elf costume, AND he protects me!

I had to get rid of his rhinestone collar, however. I think he needs more bling.

I dont like animals. They just make a mess. They are more of a hassle then anything else so I dont want them and dont care about anyone elses pets.

I love my puppy,Scondog McLovin. We spoil him so much but we don't buy clothes for him.If we did i don't think he would like too much.Mickey doesn't stay inside the house anymore but we have a dog house for him that has a huge bed and this old baby blanket that he sleeps with.I don't see the harm in treating to your pet.If the dog is sick wouldn't you want the dog to go see a vet.

Are family has a cat and he's mildly retarded. He's a waste of space and money. Too much of a hassle for an animal that breaks stuff.

I dont spoil my animals, my step mom spoils her dog to no end, she even makes dinner plates for it from the food that we are having for dinner that night, its rediculous.

When I used to have a pet, I never treated it like a human being! now that doesn't mean I hated it and tortured it I just simply didn't treat it like a baby. I tend to think that's a bit weird how people get all into their pets but hey who am I to judge.

hmmm pets are important, and its good to treat them with love and respect. but i think that your going a little too far with the spoiling, it seems like you two are longing for a child maybe you should look into that, its a good cause haha. But i dont know, because having a kid could make your dog go through depression because he's getting ignored.

Kara said...

I honestly don't think its weird to make treat your pets like family. I have two little dogs. Since i'm an only child they are like my sisters in a way. For one specific reason i let them sleep on my bed with me. My room is the warmest room of the house so they love sneaking in and snuggling on my bed. They wake me up every morning as well. Yes it can be annoying at times but i love them. I could never ever give them away.

I think that if you really want to do that with your dog it is your choice. If it is concidered you kid then i would say yeah why not
