Chapter 5 is full of symbolism obviously. The boys are becoming more barbaric and less civilized. They are beginning to realize this yet, they have no control of stopping it. They continue on a downward spiral. I also think that Piggy will be killed and eaten by them in a future chapter (the foreshadowing statement on page 83).
